Astacus leptodactylus is collecting microplastics in dam reservoir: a new record for Türkiye
With the growing understanding of the importance of microplastic (MP) pollution, which has significantly impacted several aquatic ecosystems of the world. The diverse range of aquatic ecosystems, including seas, oceans, freshwater bodies and wetlands, coupled with the rich variety of species inhabiting them, continually provides new insights into the daily impacts of MP pollution. In...
Impact of early and late maturation on the reproductive performance broodstocks of Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii)
This study investigates the reproductive viability of Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) in aquaculture settings, focusing on the impact of maturation timing on breeding success and reproductive performance. Hormone-induced spawning was employed, and gamete quality was evaluated to compare two distinct maturation groups: Early-Maturing (EM, 10 + years) and Late-Maturing (LM, 20 + years). Both groups received identical hormone doses...

Invasive Suckermouth catfishes (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) in Bangladesh wetlands: A review on the present status and challenges
The suckermouth catfish (SMF) is an invasive species in Bangladesh that has had a huge negative impact on ecosystems including rivers, lakes and wetlands. Several SMFs had been introduced as aquarium fish in the early 80‘s. The first report of this fish in Bangladesh was recorded in 2008; more recently, it has been banned in...
AQUACULTURE AND FISHERIES: EXPLORING SUSTAINABLE COLLABORATION BETWEEN BANGLADESH AND TURKEY
Aquaculture is pivotal to global food security and economic development, contributing over 87.5 million metric tons (MMT) to world fish production (FAO, 2022). This study contrasts the aquaculture practices of Bangladesh and Turkey, highlighting their respective contributions and challenges within the sector. Bangladesh, ranking 5th in global aquaculture, produced approximately 4.05 MMT of inland fisheries...
Dietary Moringa oleifera leaves to male rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) broodstock: effects on sperm quality and reproductive performance
Moringa oleifera leaves (MOL), a superfood rich in protein and vitamins, is native to the Indian subcontinent. Moringa were added to the broodstock trout diet to examine their influence on the reproductive performance of male broodstock rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Females were fed with a commercial broodstock trout diet without any inclusion of moringa leaves....
Potential use of the miracle tree (Moringa oleifera) leaves in aquaculture: A recent update
The superfood Moringa oleifera leaves are an alternative food source for human nutrition and ani-mal feeds in different countries. This highly nutritious plant has several medicinal uses as well. Abundant vitamins and minerals make this plant a source of curiosity to underdeveloped and de-veloping countries to meet the requirements of nutrients. Higher crude protein levels...

Comparison of leja and makler chambers performance in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) sperm quality in CASA System
In this study, the effect of the chamber used for the automated analysis of sperm motility and sperm kinematics parameters by CASA was evaluated of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) sperms. The assessment of motility parameters was carried out using CEROS II (Hamilton-Thorne, Beverly, MA, USA) connected to CX41 microscope (Olympus, Japan) at room temperature. Sperm...
